Umon Island Solar Mini Grid Project: Third Mission Report to Umon Island

The installation of grid facility commenced in July and was completed in August. A total of 106 wooden electric poles were mounted across the two communities – Umon Island and Bagana Communities. Within the reporting period, some sensitization activities were carried out to encourage the community members to sign the end-users contract early and benefit from the free package that will be provided by the Operator. These activities include town hall meetings with community leaders and door-to-door distribution of the communication flyers. The houses in Umon Island and Bagana Communities do not have proper numbering system. To address this anomaly, every house in the two Communities was given a Unique Identification Number. This enabled the CREDC to create data base of the customers and identify the houses of individual customers.
